Safety Information
Last updated: 27 June 2026
Wiseman Holidays takes guest safety seriously. This page covers the key things you should know before and during your stay — emergency contacts, what to do if you can't access the property, fire safety guidance, and how to report a concern.
In an emergency
For any life-threatening emergency — fire, serious injury, or a crime in progress — dial 999 immediately. UK emergency services prioritise life safety; report to your host afterwards, not first.
- 999 — police, fire, ambulance, coastguard
- 112 — works from any UK mobile, same services as 999
- 111 — NHS non-emergency medical advice
Follow your host's instructions
Each property has a host who knows the building, the local area, and any specific safety considerations. Follow check-in instructions, fire exit information, and any property-specific guidance they provide. If anything in the property seems unsafe — exposed wiring, broken locks, blocked exits — contact the host immediately.
If you can't access the property
If your check-in instructions aren't working, your access code fails, or you arrive to a locked property with no way in:
- Re-read your booking confirmation email — the code or key location may be different from what you remembered.
- Contact your host directly via the messaging system in your Wiseman Holidays account. Hosts are notified by email when you message them.
- If you can't reach your host within 30 minutes and you have nowhere to wait safely, contact us at info@wiseman-holidays.co.uk .
- For genuine emergencies — unsafe weather, you're locked out at night with vulnerable travellers, no shelter available — call 999 and they will assist or direct you to local council emergency housing.
Fire safety
Familiarise yourself with the fire exits and any fire safety equipment (extinguishers, smoke alarms, fire blankets) as soon as you arrive. Most UK holiday lets are legally required to display fire safety information — look for it near the entrance, in the property handbook, or in the welcome pack.
- Never disable smoke alarms or carbon monoxide detectors.
- Don't leave cooking unattended.
- Extinguish candles before leaving a room or sleeping.
- If a fire breaks out, get everyone out first, then call 999 from outside. Do not re-enter the property.
Property issues during your stay
For non-emergency issues — heating not working, plumbing problems, appliance faults, lost keys — contact your host first via the messaging system. Hosts are expected to respond promptly. If a host is unresponsive or the issue is serious, contact Wiseman Holidays support at info@wiseman-holidays.co.uk .
Personal safety
- Keep your booking confirmation, host contact details, and the property address saved offline (a screenshot is fine) in case you lose signal.
- Share your trip details with someone you trust before travelling.
- If you're travelling alone, let your host know your expected arrival time so they can flag any concerns.
- Lock doors and windows when leaving the property.
Reporting a safety concern
If you've experienced a safety issue at a Wiseman Holidays property — whether during your stay or after — please report it to us at info@wiseman-holidays.co.uk . We take all safety concerns seriously and investigate them. For criminal matters, report to the police first by calling 101 (non-emergency) or 999 (emergency).
